Experiences of an Aquarium Hobbyist

About Mike
Growing up in a military family meant moving a lot and when I was about 11 years old we were passing through France and decided to tour the Nancy Aquarium. I remember being so excited when I saw several species African Cichlids with mouths full of eggs. I knew there were a lot eggs because one of my hobbies was breeding tropical fish. I told a volunteer at the aquarium about what I saw and she went and grabbed a person from the backroom. It turned out to be Professor B. Conde, a famous zoologist that has described many tropical fish species and one of the founders of the Nancy Aquarium.
Dr. Conde spent some time with me and he listened carefully as I pointed out the fish carrying eggs. We marveled at the fish together and then he gave us a tour of the backroom operations.
Over the years I have seen species of tropical fish disappear and reefs bleach, now climate change threatens coral, fish, inverts, and the people that live near them. I created KeyAtoll to face these threats.
I will face them by:
-
Learning From You
-
Using Efficient Aquaculture Techniques
-
Creating Eco-Friendly Jobs
-
Online Education
